Meet Chanel
Chanel J. Alford, Ed.S.
Chanel Alford grew up in Richmond, Virginia and attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She was an award-winning middle and high school Marketing teacher for 12 years before serving as a District ITRT. She currently works as the Coordinator of Instructional Software and Online Learning for Spotsylvania County Public Schools. Prior to this role, she spent seven years as a technology integration specialist with Alexandria City Public Schools, where she coached blended learning, co-developed the district's AI guidelines, and led division-wide professional development.
A Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) and Google Certified Trainer, Chanel is also a proud VSTE Board of Directors Member and CoSN Virginia Chapter Representative. She is a two-time CoSN Volunteer Hall of Fame honoree (2025 & 2026) and a recipient of the 2019 CoSN NextGen Emerging EdTech Leader National Award. She has presented at conferences nationwide and is the namesake of a cybersecurity scholarship through her internship with CySecSol, LLC.
Chanel earned a Bachelor of Science in occupational and technical studies from Old Dominion University, a Master of Science in higher ed administration, an Education Specialist in educational leadership, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Instructional Design (ABD).
